Normalpris 399,00 DKK

Classic Harris Tweed bakerboy hat with 8 sewn-together fabric panels. This type of hat is very popular in the series Peaky Blinders but was immortalised many years ago by gangsters, golfers, fashion icons, and many others.

Today, it is also increasingly worn by hunters, fishermen, and other outdoor enthusiasts who are in the know. And we just say: Once you've started using it, and it begins to get that lovely soft surface, you'll want to sleep with it on!

Made from genuine Harris Tweed, woven according to centuries-old traditions on the Outer Hebrides archipelago west of Scotland. The textile is woven in small homes, then transported to sewing workshops.

Inside, it has padded lining in 100% satin polyester to ensure resistance against harsh weather conditions.
PS: The Harris Tweed label is your guarantee of authenticity. But it can be removed without problems.

What is bakerboy?

The English Baker Boy Cap, also known as Newsboy Cap in the USA, is a casual wear cap with a wide, round crown, often made of eight panels, sewn together with a button on top.

The style, very similar to a beret, was popular in Europe and the USA in the late 19th and early 20th centuries among both boys and adult men. As the name suggests, it is now associated with newspaper sellers, or newsboys, and baker boys who deliver on their bikes around London and New York.

Today, bakerboy comes in a range of sizes; but the modern cap originated in the guilds. An apprentice would join a guild and initially wear a small bakerboy cap. As they rose through the ranks, their cap size would increase until they became a master baker, who was allowed to wear the largest size cap.

Although traditionally a men's hat, it has been popular in various forms since the 1960s, with a much larger, floppy head and longer brim, with famous photos of Twiggy wearing a variation of the basic style in the swinging sixties.

It was then made popular by The Great Gatsby, as worn by Robert Redford, and both gave their name to the cap.

Recently, Bakerboy hats have become synonymous with the TV series Peaky Blinders, where Thomas Shelby and his gang wear bakerboy hats. They became notorious for carrying razor blades in their hats and using them as an invisible weapon. Peaky Blinders has made the bakerboy cap the most sought-after cap at the moment..
