Chilled landowner banned from seeing Downton Abbey

As some of you may recall, the Baroness and the Squire were on a trip to England, where they got lost in the park of Highclere Castle, the castle used for filming the TV series Downton Abbey. We will not mention a word about the circumstances, which do not quite bear the light of day. (But you can read about them in a previous blog post).

However, this led the Squire to actually start watching this TV series, which is about life at a castle at the beginning of the last century, for both the gentry and the servants. And it has gripped him to such an extent that it now proves almost life-threatening.

A few days ago, he was in the bathtub watching the final episode of season 2. Unaware of the episode's length, he was found by the Baroness, extremely chilled in the now cold bathwater, but with a happy smile. Because finally, the hero, the castle's heir Mathew, had proposed to Lady Mary!

Given that the Squire has been through a long period with severe pneumonia, this is, of course, completely insane.

This seemingly galloping addiction to a TV series is, of course, not healthy, so a decree has now been issued from the estate office that no neighbors or family members may allow the Squire access to their Netflix account. He has been sent for addiction treatment at the Center for TV Series Mania and is expected to recover soon.

Here the Squire is seen posing in front of another castle, this time in Sweden. He apparently can't get enough..

We will return later with a report from our next trip to England in May, where we will visit Highclere Castle again, but this time under more orderly conditions. The Squire is very much looking forward to it!
