This quilted oilskin jacket is ideal for children who also want to look like a baron or who need protection from wind and weather.
Our Hudson Jacket is lined and waterproof, keeping the little ones warm and dry – no matter what the weather or their imagination conjures up. The jacket is made of durable waxed cotton that can handle mud, rain, and a somewhat ambitious trip through the hedge with the dog in tow. Alfred has seen worse.
The jacket is authentically produced in the UK from 100% waxed cotton. The quilted lining provides comfortable warmth on cold days, and we have been manufacturing this model for over 20 years. That kind of experience is evident in the details: practical solutions, solid durability, and quality you feel immediately.
Waxed cotton has been used since the 15th century, when Scottish fishermen impregnated their sails with oil to keep rain out without weighing down the fabric. Back then, fish oil was used – today, we naturally use a much more refined wax based on paraffin and beeswax. Remnant fabric was used as cloaks for the fishermen, and it quickly became clear that the material had a special ability to keep both wind and water at bay. So good, in fact, that British forces later adopted the material during World War II.
We have made an effort to preserve everything that made the classic wax jacket popular to begin with.
The well-insulated Hudson Jacket protects the child through the winter months with tight seams that keep both rain and wind out. The waxed exterior provides extra protection against water, while elastic cuffs, two handwarmer pockets, and a detachable hood ensure that the cold doesn't have free rein.
After all, there's no reason for a little rain to cancel a good adventure.
