Oban roll neck sweater was made at the request of many men (and women) who wanted to supplement the Ballater model with a slightly thicker sweater. Not a bad word about Ballater, but some people just want an even warmer sweater.
The Danish clothing brand OLENE proudly presents a roll neck sweater that even the most discerning wool opponent will embrace as if it were the holy grail that had suddenly materialised. Knitted in Scotland on Japanese knitting machines and washed in soft water extracted from the low-lime hinterland behind the production. We've been there ourselves, so we know it's not empty talk!
This sweater is made from six-ply (6-ply) geelong yarn, making it a more robust and "chunky" sweater, ideal for wearing under a tweed blazer. The wool used is the exclusive Geelong SuperFine lambswool from New Zealand, which can be considered merino wool's luxurious and durable sister. The yarn has short fibres and a fine diameter, resulting in an incredibly soft sweater. To make it even softer, we have asked the manufacturer for an "underwash", where the yarn has been gently treated to achieve extra softness.
The roll neck is designed with a touch of 70s inspiration, giving a timeless look. All seams are made in the traditional way, which adds a unique design element.
We are delighted with this sweater, both in terms of style and quality, and we believe it will remain beautiful for many years to come. For us, this is a sustainable and meaningful investment.
DISCLOSURE: The landowner himself has worn samples of these sweaters, WITHOUT anything underneath, to ensure they are really as soft as we want them to be. So no shirt, no t-shirt, nothing! Sorry to share such intimate details, but it's important to us that you understand how wonderfully soft this knit is, without any cashmere wool involved.
The sweater is PRINCIPALLY designed for men, indicated in men's sizes, but has already been "scored" by several women in our circle. That's how it is with quality; it has no preferences, age, or prejudice.
We are incredibly happy with this sweater, which in terms of style and product quality will last for many years. We believe this is sustainable and makes so much sense to us.
MORE ABOUT 6-PLY:
When a sweater is described as "6-ply" in Danish, it means that the yarn it is knitted from consists of six threads (plies) spun together.
Ply refers to the number of single threads twisted together to make a thicker and stronger yarn. The more plies, the more robust, warmer, and often more durable the fabric becomes. A "6-ply" sweater is thus made of relatively thick yarn, which typically makes the sweater very warm, robust, and slightly heavier than, for example, a 2-ply or 4-ply sweater.
It is especially used for luxury materials such as cashmere or merino wool, where more plies can also mean that the sweater holds its shape better and has a beautiful structure.
