Pennine Strømper

Pennine from Nottingham in Great Britain has produced socks for more than 165 years, and has, along the way, been a supplier to the British military during both World Wars and onwards.

In recent years, they have specialized in making beautiful shooting socks, which are traditionally very strongly rooted in English country life.

The company was founded in 1850 by Mrs. Sarah Bamkin, who bought socks in Nottingham, had local miner's wives embroider on them, and then resold them for profit in Nottingham. Within a few years, she had earned enough to buy her own machines and start her own production of socks. Now that's entrepreneurship in a nutshell!
